You will need:

  • Acrylic Paint (I used peach, red, and black)
  • White Seashells
  • Small White Pom-Poms
  • Small Paintbrushes
  • Twine or Ribbon (for hanging)
  • Hot Glue Gun

Instructions (Step-By-Step)

Step 1: Paint the red hat

Take red acrylic paint and brush it across the top of the shell. Then, paint a slanted section down the side to look like Santa’s hat. Let it dry before moving to the next step.

Step 2: Paint the face

Use peach acrylic paint to make a small rectangle in the middle of the white part of the shell. It doesn’t need to be perfect—just a cute little rectangle. Let it dry.

Step 3: Add the face and pom-pom

Once the face paint is dry, use a small brush to give Santa eyes, a nose, and a smile. Paint small black eyes, a pink nose (mix red and peach), and a red smile below the rectangle. Then, use hot glue to stick a white pom-pom on the end of Santa’s hat.

Step 4: Add the hanger

Glue a piece of twine to the back of the shell in a loop to hang it on your tree. Ribbon or fishing line can work too. You can try using different shell sizes, but remember, bigger shells are heavier and may not work on every branch.

Simple Tips To Help You Make Santa Seashell Ornament

1. Choose the Right Seashells

Pick medium to large seashells that have a smooth, flat surface. Scallop shells or clam shells work well because they have space to create Santa’s face.

2. Paint the Base Coat

Start by painting the entire shell white to create a clean canvas. Once dry, paint the top section of the shell red for Santa’s hat and leave the middle for his face. You can use acrylic paints for vibrant colors.

3. Attach a String for Hanging

Glue a small loop of string or ribbon to the back of the seashell so you can hang your ornament on the Christmas tree. Make sure the glue is strong enough to hold the seashell’s weight.

Enjoy your festive seashell Santas!
